The Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday afternoon in an open session, announced Monday that the US Attorney General Jeff Sessions will testify before them. He was expected to appear to discuss Department of Justice funding.
“In light of reports regarding Mr. Comey’s recent testimony before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, it is important that I have an opportunity to address these matters in the appropriate forum,” wrote Sessions. “The Senate Intelligence Committee is the most appropriate forum for such matters, as it
has been conducting an investigation and has access to relevant, classified information.” The committee stated
Senators had been pushing for Sessions to appear publicly to answer questions about his contacts with Russian officials during the campaign.
Already,the Attorney General Jeff Sessions have has been rumored to have suggested that he could resign amid rising tension with President Trump. Of recent there has been reports of tensions between the president and Jeff Sessions even though the white house has dismissed such report.
One spectacular aspect of former FBI boss Comey’s written testimony is his alleged
interactions with President Donald Trump in which he noted that he had asked Sessions “prevent any future direct communication” between the president and himself following the private dinner the two shared on Jan. 27 and in the Oval Office meeting on Feb. 14 which the former FBI boss Comey found to be “inappropriate.” Comey went on to write that Sessions did not reply to his request.
Session’s testimony on Tuesday will be highly anticipated especially by the democrats lawmakers.
